Betting on mobile sports is surging in New Jersey to the point where the Garden State is in a race with Nevada to see which gaming mecca takes the pole position in legalized sports betting, according to The Wall Street Journal. 

The sports betting boost, which followed a Supreme Court decision a year ago, has numerous states jumping into the fray to snag a share of the multibillion dollar industry, which includes betting on live games as well as fantasy sports, which analyzes sports data on individual athletes. 

FanDuel in July announced plans to expand into Pennsylvania and media and sports betting app TheScore just locked down a $40 million investment amid plans to expand its mobile sportsbook operation nationwide.
