WhatsApp is in the process of rolling out a new feature on the Android version of its messaging app in India that will enable users to make payments via a QR code, according to multiple media reports.

TechRadar reported that WhatsApp users first will need to enable WhatsApp Payments to use the QR code feature. 

The new feature is closely aligned with India's UPI ID system that calls for various mobile payments schemes to be interoperable.
