Vodafone to offer direct carrier billing for European Android developers

The Vodafone developer blog announced the company is going to make it easier for Android developers to monetize their content. Vodafone said Vodafone UK and Vodafone Germany will roll out direct carrier billing for the Android Market so that consumers who want to purchase an app or game will not need to enter credit card information.

Vodafone said the move will give developers direct access to millions of Android users who can now charge their Android Market purchases straight to their phone bills or prepay accounts. Additionally, the company said offering direct carrier billing for digital content will improve a customer's experience and improve conversion rates.

According to the blog post, the direct carrier billing service will only be available for now to users who have purchased their devices through Vodafone online and retail channels.

Vodafone said additional information on how to implement the direct carrier billing product will be released soon.
