Vigilant Solutions, a developer of license plate recognition technology, has partnered with ParkMobile, a developer of mobile parking apps, to create a technology that helps parking enforcement officers verify parking permits and pay-by-phone accounts, , according to a company press release.

Shawn Smith, president of Vigilant, said the agreement will help parking enforcement officers determine whether vehicles are legally parked in a particular location by allowing them to use Vigilant Solutions to match its whitelist with license plates, time and the parking zone information provided by ParkMobile users.

ParkMobile's mobile app is used to pay for parking in more than 3,000 locations across the U.S., allowing customers to pay for on and off-street parking without the need to use a kiosk or parking meter.
