Tyfone launches mobile banking platform for small and medium FIs

Secure ID and transaction provider Tyfone has launched its Fluide Mobile banking platform, initially targeting medium and small community banks and credit unions.

More than 70 percent of current banking consumers are accessing online banking through mobile devices, according to the Portland, Oregon-based Tyfone. However, according to a 2013 biennial survey by Independent Community Bankers of America, more than 50 percent of medium and small financial institutions do not have a mobile solution.

"We have closed the gap between the haves and have-nots by enabling any financial institution to offer mobile services to their accountholders," Mark Miyamoto, Tyfone's director of sales for mobile banking, said in a statement.

Tyfone's platform can be used for additional services such as remote check deposit, mobile marketing and messaging, P2P payments and mobile payments at the point-of-sale, Miyamoto said.

Fluide Mobile runs on Tyfone's u4ia (pronounced euphoria) secure mobile transaction platform, which allows FIs deploying Fluide Mobile to augment basic mobile banking with mobile messaging, marketing, mobile payments and security support.

In October 2013, Tyfone announced a trial of its smart card-based mobile banking security technology with Wisconsin-based CoVantage Credit Union.
