Starbucks rolls out mobile payments
Starbucks Corp. has rolled out mobile payment acceptance. Starbucks customers can now use their iPhones and iPod Touches in nearly 6,800 locations to pay for their purchases.
Using the Starbucks Card Mobile iPhone/iPod Touch application, customers can scan a 2D barcode at the register. The barcode is linked to a Starbucks loyalty card. Customers can go online to check their account balance, redeem loyalty points or add money using a credit card or PayPal account.
At this time the application is only available for iOS devices, but an Android version is being developed.
