Shake Shack tests cashless kiosk at NYC location
Shake Shack will introduce its first-ever cashless kiosk at a new restaurant in Astor Place in New York City this month, according to a Kiosk Marketplace report. The company will use this "playground" to test digital innovations. The restaurant will not accept cash.
Guests will place orders at digital kiosks or their mobile phones. Employees will be on hand to help customers with the kiosks. The new restaurant will have a similar dining room and waiting area as traditional restaurants.
CEO Randy Garutti said many customers still pay with cash in its restaurants, but the company wants to see if removing that option will make the dining experience more seamless.
