Samsung unveils mPOS-enabled Galaxy XCover Pro for enterprise market

Samsung Electronics Co. has unveiled the Galaxy XCover Pro, which is designed for frontline workers operating in harsh conditions ranging from manufacturing to healthcare and retail, who need to make and accept mobile payments, according to a company press release.

The device is integrated with various hardware and software from partners including barcode scanning provider Koamtac Inc., Infinite Peripherals, Scandit and Visa, as well as Samsung POS, allowing users to conduct mobile POS transactions. The phone can also be integrated with new walkie talkie capabilities from Microsoft Teams.

"The Galaxy XCover Pro is a reflection of Samsung's increased investment and commitment to the B2B market," DJ Koh, president and CEO of Samsung Electronics' IT & Mobile Communications Division, said in the release. "We believe the business mobility market is ripe for transformation in 2020 and we intend to be the leader in pioneering an open and collaborative mobile platform for the next generation of the digitally enabled workforce."

The Samsung POS has been approved for Visa's Tap-to-Phone pilot program, which allows users to accept contactless transactions by users scanning a contactless phone, wearable or card against the XCover Pro.
