ACI Worldwide, a provider of electronic payment and banking systems, announced that Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island will leverage its bill-payment solutions to power mobile, Web, interactive voice response, call center and consolidated remittance payment options on one integrated platform.

ACI cited the Affordable Care Act's mandate for individual coverage, which is expected to increase the number of Americans looking to purchase healthcare insurance. Those customers will expect convenient payment options from insurers, ACI said, and its solutions will enable insurers like BCBSRI to meet those needs while generating cost savings by integrating all channels and payment types.

"With a growing membership of more than 500,000, our focus is on providing Rhode Islanders with health insurance plans that meet their needs," Nathaniel Bosgraaf, channel manager, retail management for BCBSRI, said in a news release. "Making the process as seamless as we can includes having a streamlined payment system. This means giving members an intuitive interface with user-friendly functionality. ACI is the vendor that understands this best."
