Revolut launches banking app in US

Revolut Technologies Inc., a fintech with more than 10 million customers across the U.K. and continental Europe, has launched its banking app and debit card in the U.S.

London-based Revolut is offering the FDIC-insured bank accounts through a partnership with Metropolitan Commercial Bank. The banking app and Mastercard debit card account allows customers to withdraw funds at 55,000 ATMs worldwide, hold 28 different currencies in the app and spend and transfer funds.

The service allows customers to open an account by downloading a mobile app and uploading documents within a few minutes. Customers can set up direct deposit, make payments and get detailed information that breaks down where they are spending their money.

"As the cost of living increases disproportionately to people's take home salaries, now more than ever, people need to know exactly what is coming in and out of their account," Nik Storonsky, founder and CEO of Revolut, said in a company release. "They should have the tools to help them manage their money more conveniently and accurately."
