Chinese consumers continue to flock to mobile payments as some 469 million citizens used the payments method in 206, up 31.2 percent from the previous year, according to a study from the China Internet Network Information Centre.

The organization contributed the increase to the number of consumers connecting to the internet through their mobile phones. That figure increased 12.1 percent to 696 million consumers in 2016, according to the report.
