Rakuten.com Shopping has signed up with MasterPass, MasterCard's new digital wallet service. Using MasterPass, consumers can use any payment card or enabled device to buy online or on their mobile. The digital wallet stores payment credentials securely making it easier and more convenient to pay without having to enter and re-enter payment data.

Additionally, MasterPass users who shop on Rakuten.com will receive additional promotions through the service as an enticement to use the service.

Launched earlier this year, MasterPass is the latest iteration of MasterCard's digital wallet strategy, providing consumers with access to payment credentials across any channel.

Formerly Buy.com, Rakuten.com Shopping is a global e-commerce site that connects 18 million consumers with a network of more than 5,500 small and large businesses. It's headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California and is part of the Japanese Internet company Rakuten.
