Portland parkers can soon pay by smartphone
Motorists in Portland, Ore., will soon be able to pay by smartphone. The Oregonian reports that City Center Parking, which was acquired in January by ImPark of Vancouver, B.C., will begin accepting mobile payments in September.
Using an app developed by San Francisco-based QuickPay, customers will be able to find and pay for parking via Android and iOS smartphones. Blackberry and Windows phone users will be able to use a browser-based app. The service will also be available via SMS text.
QuickPay may be preparing to bring mobile payments to public street parking in cities across the U.S., the site added.
