PM Connect, a U.K.-based mobile payment provider, is partnering with Vodacom, Africa's largest mobile carrier, to provide mobile-optimized sports and entertainment content from a variety of international providers.

The agreement includes content from professional wrestling giant WWE. Content can be bought via a mobile device on a subscription basis, according to a press release.

Chris Purdie, group commercial director at PM Connect, said the service is focused on South Africa, where Vodacom has a 43 percent share and will eventually expand across the continent, according to the release. 

The news was released ahead of the AfricaCom conference, the largest in the continent focused on technology, media and telecom.
