Etisalat, a UAE-based telecom, announced Monday consumers can now pay for parking via a text message in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.

Users also will receive a text message when their parking time is about to expire, according to a press release from Etisalat.

"The partnership with the respective service providers is in line with our long-term strategy to provide the best services that support m-government initiatives and result in time, energy and financial savings for our customers," Khaled El Kholy, chief marketing officer for Etisalat, said in a statement. “Innovation is an integral part of our customer-centric business approach, as we constantly strive to provide better and convenient services."
