Major League Baseball's Oakland A's franchise recently tested NFC ticketing, which enabled fans with a Apple iPhone or Apple Watch to enter the Oakland Alameda Coliseum by tapping their device to a ticket scanner, according to a report from TechCrunch.

The A's tested NFC ticketing during its last homestand of the year. The MLB season ended on October 1.

Apple's recent iOS update has made NFC ticketing possible thanks to the system's ability to read NFC tags.
