mFoundry deploys mobile banking platform for Washington bank

Washington State's oldest privately held bank has embraced the latest in retail banking technology.

Washington Trust Bank, which was founded in 1902, has launched a fully integrated multi-mode mobile banking platform deployed by mFoundry Inc. The platform enables Washington Trust customers who own iPhone, iPod Touch, Android and many BlackBerry devices to check account balances, pay bills, transfer funds between accounts and locate bank branches and ATMs.

Customers also can use Washington Trust's enhanced mobile Web to access their online banking account from any device with a mobile browser. The mobile application is available for immediate download from the Apple AppStore and Android Marketplace.

"We are pleased to provide our customers with the greatest range of options for their mobile banking needs," said Jim Brockett, chief information officer of Washington Trust, which has its headquarters in Spokane. "As we set our mobile strategy, our primary goal was to offer a mobile solution that served our customers regardless of the phone they have, while still providing deep functionality."

The bank serves customers in Washington, Oregon, Utah and Idaho.

MFoundry has its headquarters in Larkspur, Calif. NCR Corp., the world's largest ATM manufacturer based on annual shipments, is a major investor in mFoundry.
