MasterCard testing in-stadium mobile pay app

If you've ever craved another hot dog and beverage during a college football game but didn't have the heart to fight your way to the concourse, MasterCard may have an answer. The company said it is testing, with Legends Hospitality, an expansion of its QkR app that will let consumers order and pay for food without leaving their stadium seat. The expanded app was part of a lengthy list of payment-related innovationsMasterCard QR code on stadium seat the company showed off during its annual investor day Wednesday.

The list also included ShopThis! With MasterPass, which lets digital shoppers buy products from Intel's Virtual Shopping Experience, a fully interactive 3D virtual fitting room app.

"The digital lifestyle is radically altering the day-to-day shopping experience, and habits, of consumers," Ed McLaughlin, chief emerging payments officer, said in a news release. "As a result, consumers will now shop and pay in whatever way best fits their needs and lifestyles, from every device they have, with a simple tap, click or touch at the register, in the aisle, at home, on the go — or anywhere else. We continue to lead this transition to digital and deliver the next, best and most innovative solutions to meet the needs of consumers and merchants."
