Interswitch brings cardless mobile ATM withdrawals to Nigeria

The African payments company Interswitch Transnational has added cardless ATM withdrawals for mobile money users to its Quickteller service. Quickteller allows customers to buy airtime, pay bills and transfer funds at various touch points, including ATMs, POS terminals, the Internet and mobile devices.

Users can now withdraw cash from their mobile money accounts at 6,000 Quickteller-supported ATMs across Nigeria by entering a 12-digit code and a 4-digit PIN, Nigeria Communications Week reports.

The new service aims to increase cash-out locations for customers without bank accounts and bank cards, Interswitch said. Customers can make card-less cash withdrawals ranging from N1,000 to N20,000 ($6-$123).

"The card-less ATM withdrawal service is one of those services where the infrastructure can be customized to mobile money operators (MMOs) to fulfill bespoke business needs," Titilola Shogaolu, Interswitch Nigeria's chief payment and value-added services officer, said in a statement.
