IBM has officially filed a patent to create a blockchain-powered Web browser. The browser would capture certain information to store directly on a blockchain using a peer-to-peer network, according to the application.

The platform would use processors to detect browser events then submit those "events" to the peer-to-peer network, which would then maintain the events as one or more blocks on the blockchain.

The patent application said the blockchain would carry data such as, "records of uniform resource locators (URLs) browsed by the user, bookmarks added to the browser, and search terms searched by the user."
