MasterCard has announced plans to integrate Masterpass into Gulf Pay, a new new mobile payment application from Gulf Oil, according to a press release.

The new offering, powered by P97's PetroZone mobile commerce platform, will help Gulf customers find the nearest Gulf gas station and enable them to pay at the pump and in stores.

Masterpass will be embedded in the Gulf Pay wallet as an additional payment method and will store all payment information — card details, shipping information and payment preferences — in one location, according to the announcement.

"We know that consumers want to fuel up quickly and be on their way, so we've partnered with P97 and Gulf to deliver a frictionless payment experience to get people back on the road as fast as possible," Linda Kirkpatrick, executive vice president for merchants and acceptance at MasterCard. "The fuel category is a great example of where Masterpass can deliver the speed a consumer wants with the security they've come to expect from MasterCard."
