Gates-backed freight startup Convoy launches mobile app to speed lumper payments
Convoy, a digital freight fintech backed by Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and other investors, has launched an app that allows freight carriers to speed the process of so-called lumper payments on a mobile device.
Lumpers are third-party firms that shippers use to load or unload freight from trucks, and the payments, which usually range between $50 and $500 per shipment, can take days to weeks for normal reimbursement.
"Dealing with lumper payments has been a major pain point for carriers," Ziad Ismail, chief product officer at Convoy, said in a company release. "With hassle free lumper payments, we are excited to simplify the time-consuming process of retrieving lumper payment codes, and eliminate those out of pocket expenses for carriers."
