EU regulators could revisit Apple Pay if formal complaints lodged: Report
Apple Pay, which was found not to be abusing competition laws during a recent probe by European Union regulators, could face a second investigation if regulators receive formal complaints, according to a report by Reuters.
EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager told Reuters in an interview that the digital payment service could face a new round if further complaints are made. Critics have alleged that Apple iPhones automatically select Apple Pay due to an embedded NFC chip in the device, according to the report.
The regulator also warned that Google and Amazon could face further scrutiny over competition issues.
