DoorDash drops commission rate for small restaurant brands
In a $100 million effort to help restaurants with fewer than five locations stay afloat during the COVID-19 outbreak, DoorDash is slashing commissions by 50% for thousands of independent restaurant partners starting April 13 through the end of May.
The cuts on the DoorDash and Caviar delivery platforms will help more than 150,000 local restaurant partners in the U.S., Canada and Australia make up revenue losses caused by social distancing and stay-at-home mandates, according to a company press release.
The cut applies to restaurants with five or fewer locations. The effort is in addition to previously announced relief efforts announced to help local restaurants, including the zero commission program and #OpenforDelivery campaign announced last month.
