Direct carrier biller BilltoMobile makes its mobile payments easier

Direct carrier biller BilltoMobile announced a new, simpler one-click process for consumers shopping on their mobile web browsers. The company's new process means customers can apply their purchases to their mobile phone bills with fewer clicks, making it easier to use direct carrier billing on small mobile device screens.

BilltoMobile also announced social entertainment community MocoSpace is the first customer to go live with the new process. MocoSpace is a network designed for mobile users and currently boasts more than 20 million users.

Direct carrier billing is an increasingly important payment method in the online space, especially for gaming and social media, where consumers may be younger and may not have access to other electronic payment methods.

"Direct billing is key to our virtual currency based mobile social gaming community, and with Billtomobile we've been able to provide a seamless payment experience,” said Jamie Hall, MocoSpace Co-founder & CTO.

BilltoMobile, which is the only direct carrier biller to process payments across all four of the major wireless carriers in the U.S., said its deep integration with the mobile carriers is what makes its new process possible. BilltoMobile is able to identify a consumer's phone number when the consumer makes a purchase using the mobile web on a smartphone. This eliminates the need for consumers to enter any information. They simply click to accept the carrier's terms of use and verify the purchase amount all on one screen.

"We are excited to be introducing this elegant new functionality on a major carrier with MocoSpace," said BilltoMobile's VP of Sales, Paris Leung, in a statement.

Leung said BilltoMobile has been working closely with carriers to implement the new process. He expects all four of the largest carriers to be offering the service soon. He also expects the new payment flow to benefit merchants.

"Offering such a simple and easy payment flow for consumers translates directly to higher revenue," Leung said. "We have seen this proven out in other geographic areas of the world. We are very excited to be the first DCB platform in the US to offer one-click mobile web processing."
