Commonwealth Bank releases iPhone contactless stickers

Australia's Commonwealth Bank has made mobile wallets available for all its customers with the release of the new CommBank app and CommBank PayTag NFC sticker for iPhones.

The release follows the launch of new CommBank apps and stickers for Android and Windows 8 platforms in December. Since the launch, 300,000 customers have updated to the new app, Lisa Frazier, Commonwealth Bank's executive general manager digital channels, said in a statement.

The CommBank PayTag sticker attaches to the back of a smartphone, allowing customers to make contactless MasterCard PayPass payments up to A$100 ($88) with a tap of their phone.

The app is available for download from the App Store. Enhancements to the CommBank app include balance checks, BPAY (Australian electronic bill payment system) QR code payments and person-to-person payments using a mobile number, email address or Facebook contact. The PayTag sticker can be ordered and activated via the CommBank app for A$2.99 ($2.63).

"All of CommBank's mobile customers now have the opportunity to embrace the mobile wallet revolution and experience next-generation mobile banking and payments enhancements," Frazier said.

"Our mobile customers can now leave their wallet at home and use their phone to pay for everyday items from a morning coffee to groceries, while our mobile banking innovations make checking a balance, or paying a bill or a friend, simpler and faster."
