Chronic Games adds virtual currency to cannabis-AR game

Chronic Games Ltd., a blockchain-powered video game company, recently launched its campaign to recruit brand evangelists to boost its cannabis AR game called CryptoChronic. The company is offering free virtual currency called Chronics to the first 420 users to register on its website, according to a press release.

Users can breed and trade their own virtual marijuana 'pet.' They can also battle other players in a multiplayer 'Smoke Off.' Players can use the Chronics tokens to unlock additional features, according to the release.

"We are proud to announce a new paradigm in defining deep gamification, user interaction and character development. Habitually blockchain gaming offers restricted depth. Tokens are merely tokens. Ours instead are Characters, with a story and a function within a wider game-world. They act as keys to a cannabis-themed universe, a 'Cannaverse,' relating to the user on a deeper personal and intimate level. We are excited about what is achieved leveraging such technology," Geoffrey Baker, director of Chronic Games Ltd., said in the release. "Not only regards gaming but also more broadly for the cannabis industry, in dire need of bridging the gap with digital solutions."
