CHARGE Anywhere announces NFC-enabled mobile POS

CHARGE Anywhere LLC, a mobile payment provider and payment gateway, announced that its mobile payment application for devices running the Android mobile operating system now enables those devices to process near field communication (NFC) transactions as point-of-sale terminals.

In order to work as an NFC POS terminal, smartphones must be running a version of the Android operating system that is NFC-enabled. Those capabilities are currently only available on Google’s Nexus S smartphone, but CHARGE Anywhere said it will expand its mobile payment acceptance solutions as more compatible smartphones are released.

The announcement by CHARGE Anywhere means NFC technologies could conceivably be used for small business transactions in the near future.

“The CHARGE Anywhere payment platform has always stayed ahead of the payment technology curve and adding NFC payments ensure that our partnering financial institutions, mobile network operators and distributors always have the most competitive advantage in delivering secure payment technology," said Paul Sabella, president and CEO of CHARGE Anywhere.
