Carvana moves to touchless delivery for online car sales

Carvana, an e-commerce platform for buying and selling used cars, is offering touchless delivery and pick-up services for customers looking to buy a car online.

Carvana said the touchless delivery service, which is similar to programs being offered by many food delivery and e-commerce retail sites, allows customers to complete a car purchase without direct contact with the employee delivering the car to their home.

"Our number one priority is the health of our customers and the people we work with," Amy O'Hara, associate director of communication at Carvana, said in a company release. "As priorities are being reevaluated all around the world, for many, buying or trading a car may not be at the top of that list."

She added however, that many customers may need to make a car purchase to replace an older car or avoid public transportation.

The announcement comes just days after Ally Financial doubled its receivables car loan program with Carvana to $2 billion over the next 12 months. The extension will allow Carvana to provide affordable financing for customers.

Carvana offers more than 25,000 vehicles on its platform, offering 360 degree online tours of the car or truck and a 7-day return policy.
