BOA offering refunds on fees, loan deferrals

Bank of America is providing additional support and assistance to its consumer and business clients impacted by the coronavirus, according to a company press release.

The services will be provided on a case-by-case basis through the bank's Client Assistance Program. The bank will defer payments for business loans and on business credit cards. It will also provide refunds on late fees, overdrafts, non-sufficient funds fees, withdrawal penalties for certificates of deposit and monthly maintenance fees. None of the deferrals offered will affect a client’s credit rating.

"Our clients rely on us every day and for every aspect of their financial lives," Dean Athanasia, president of consumer and small business at Bank of America, said in the release. "We're going to continue to provide convenient access to the important services they count on, and the additional assistance and support they need during this difficult period. Our priorities are taking care of our team and each other and continuing to fulfill our fundamental role serving our clients."
