BilltoMobile adds to its merchant roster

BilltoMobile, a provider of direct mobile billing (DMB) services, announced agreements with several new merchants involved in the online digital goods and services market. The new partnerships include online game publishers Aeria Games and Gala Net, mobile dating sites Flirtomatic and Lavalife.com, and Xtranormal, a movie-making site.

BilltoMobile provides consumers with the option of charging digital purchases to their mobile bills. The company currently has agreements in place with Verizon Wireless Inc. and AT&T to provide DMB services to their wireless customers, making BilltoMobile available to more than 190 million customers in the Unityed States. A recently announced agreement with Sprint Nextel Corp. will increase that number to 240 million.

Direct mobile billing is an especially popular payment alternative for gaming and social media sites with younger customers who do not have credit cards or bank accounts but do have access to a cellphone.

"Consumers appreciate the added convenience, flexibility and security for their online purchases," BilltoMobile Vice President of Business Development Steve Klebe said in the announcement. "BilltoMobile is the only mobile payments gateway that can provide online merchants the financial grade technology infrastructure and broad consumer reach necessary to provide their customers with a viable mobile payment option."
