Barclaycard is partnering with VocaLink to enable its U.K. merchants to accept mobile payments through the Pay by Bank app.

The Pay by Bank app will enable shoppers to pay for goods and services on a mobile device without having to enter credit or debit card details. Consumers who use Pay by Bank at the point of purchase can log into their mobile banking app which will authorize and complete the transaction. 

Barclays said in a press release that it will work with its merchants to provide the payments technology needed to accept Pay by App. The technology is an e-commerce gateway, which means when a transaction is made, the payment is taken from the shopper's bank account and deposited into the retailer's account in almost real time.
