Bank of China launches mobile payment app

Bank of China has launched the BOC mobile payment app for its credit card customers. The app is downloadable for free from the Apple app store, the Android store, Bank of China's website www.boc.cn and its mobile website wap.boc.cn.

Bank of China said the app integrates its various mobile payment products, including mobile banking-based payments. Customers can use the app to inquire about their electronic payment transaction records and set transaction limits.

Bank of China customers can use the new mobile payment app without enrolling in the bank's mobile banking service. However, unless they also use Bank of China's mobile banking service, customers are limited to RMB 1,000 ($165) per mobile payment transaction.

In October, Bank of China launched the BOC Easy Payment mobile app, which enables consumers to transfer money between each other's smartphones using NFC. They can also use the app to make in-store purchases using QR codes.

Bank of China provides financial services to customers across the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and 36 overseas countries.
