The Bangladesh government plans to launch a nationwide mobile payments system by early 2018, according to report by GovInsider.

The government of Bangladesh wants to use the system to bring the nation's unbanked citizens into the financial mainstream. This initiative is similar to one implemented Brazil a few years ago. 

The Bangladesh government will integrate the upcoming system with bKash, which enables consumers to purchases goods and services via text messages.
