Atom Tickets launches platform to let exhibitors create movie subscription plans

Atom Tickets, a digital platform for movie tickets, has introduced Atom Ticket Access, a plan that lets exhibitors create their own customized movie subscription service, a company release said.

The service works with exhibitors of all sizes in North America. It allows movie fans to reserve tickets through the Atom Tickets app, pre-order food and drinks and use mobile check-in to eliminate the need for paper tickets.

Atom can manage various services for exhibitors, including payment, customer service, fraud detection and anti-abuse measures.

"Atom Tickets is an innovative ticketing platform that enables exhibitors to reach and engage new and incremental audiences," Matthew Bakal, co-founder and chairman of Atom Tickets, said in the release.

The announcement comes a week after rival service Moviepass announced plans to resume its unlimited subscription service, which earlier had restructured its financial model. The service had disrupted the filmed entertainment industry in recent years at a cost of millions in losses for its parent company.

Atom Tickets is backed by Lionsgate, Disney, Twentieth Century Fox Film and Fidelity Management & Research Co. The platform is enabled at more than 21,000 theater screens across the U.S.
