Trustonic, Mobeewave partner to enhance mobile payments security

The companies said the partnership allows Mobeewave-enabled NFC devices to achieve best-in-class security for accepting contactless transactions with a mobile device.

Trustonic, a provider of Trusted Execution Environments for mobile devices, and Mobeewave, a provider of contactless payment acceptance, have partnered to allow Mobeewave-enabled NFC devices to achieve best-in-class security for accepting contactless transactions with a mobile device, according to a press release.

Trustonic claims in the announcement that until now, mPOS products have not completely secured the interaction with consumers on mobile devices unless merchants used add-on devices. The company said that the Mobeewave mPOS application downloaded into a merchant mobile device that supports Trustonic technology ensures that a consumers will be able to securely tap their contactless card or smartphone to complete the transaction. The Trustonic TEE technology secures the interaction on the merchant’s device by leveraging the Trusted User Interface, according to the announcement.

Trustonic claims that this system benefits not only big, established retailers who want to provide more flexibility and a better user experience, but also small and mobile merchants who can't afford a complex, traditional POS infrastructure setup.

"There is a lot of traction for mobile payment acceptance right now. Partnering with Trustonic will definitely fast-track the adoption of this next revolution in mobile payment," said Benjamin du Haÿs, CEO and cofounder of Mobeewave.
