Tabbedout adds customer engagement, marketing tools

Mobile payment startup Tabbedout is going beyond the payment to offer merchants marketing tools. The Austin-based company announced the release of Periscope, a set of tools based on its popular payment app that lets merchants monitor customer use of the app, review customer purchase history, and collect and respond to guest reviews.

"Merchants are already spending money on things like advertising, food and drink specials and daily deal sites in an effort to grow their business," said Alex Broeker, CEO of Tabbedout. "But trying to figure out what’s working, and tracking the ROI on those investments is difficult at best. With Periscope, merchants can see which programs are effective, target and segment offers to the guests they want to bring into their location, and personalize the guest experience like never before."

Tools available to merchants through Periscope include:

  • Merchant access to information on customers including whether they're regulars or new customers, average spend and favorite food and drinks
  • Customer feedback directly to merchants through the Tabbedout app allowing merchants to respond and even provide special offers for negative experiences
  • Segmentation and targeting of customers for marketing and messaging based on merchant criteria with the ability to track offer redemption

"We are the only mobile payment solution with deep POS integrations encompassing all the major hospitality POS providers," said Cameron Hotchkies, director of engineering for Tabbedout. "Because of this, we are able to give merchants a platform that combines mobile payment and customer relationship management into one solution that seamlessly integrates with their existing systems, making it easy to install and deploy."
