Swedish iZettle out of beta, issues Visa Europe fix

Swedish mobile POS maker iZettle is out of beta in Nordic countries and is releasing a version of its app for Android devices in Denmark, Finland and Norway.

iZettle, which provides merchants in several northern European countries a Square-like experience, also said it has issued a workaround for problems with Visa Europe that have plagued the company for some time. In a post on the company blog, iZettle said that although the workaround isn't its preferred solution, the company is now compliant with Visa Europe's regulations.

Visa Europe blocked iZettle merchants in Denmark, Finland and Norway from accepting Visa-branded cards earlier this year.

Like other European mPOS providers, companies like mPowa and SumUp, iZettle is looking to become the market leader in E.U. countries. The company has recently closed partnerships with telecom companies in Germany and the U.K. in order to expand its footprint into those countries.

The company recently raised around $31 million in Series B funding, including an investment from American Express.
