Payments processor Stripe has signed agreements with Alipay and WeChat Pay to enable online merchants to accept both payment methods on their websites, according to a Reuters report. 

"If you are an internet business this unlocks a new vast customer base," John Collison, Stripe president and co-founder, told Reuters in an interview. 

Stripe believes the integrations will help merchants attract more Chinese consumers to their websites. Such consumers typically rely on Alipay and WeChat Pay to make remote purchases instead of a credit card.
