Mobile POS provider Square recently moved into new corporate headquarters in San Francisco and said it will add offices in New York City's SoHo neighborhood and in Kitchener-Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, next year.

The California office is located at 1455 Market Street in San Francisco's Central Market neighborhood.

"Our mission to make commerce easy comes with ambitious technical challenges," Bryan Power, director of talent, Square, said in a news release. "Our new headquarters allows us to rapidly scale, while preserving our values of collaboration and transparency. The design of the space reinforces our commitment to small teams, as well as designers and engineers working alongside one another."

Square said its number of worldwide employees has doubled year over year, from about 300 employees in 2012 to more than 600 today. The new San Francisco headquarters is more than 150,000 square feet, the company said, more three times larger than its previous space in the San Francisco Chronicle building.

In New York, Square said it will triple its engineering presence within a year, while Kitchener-Waterloo will house the company's first permanent office in Canada. Square also has offices in Atlanta and Tokyo.
