New MFi mobile POS device hits market

Mobile point-of-sale device provider Infinite Peripherals Inc. haslaunched the Linea Pro 5 with Apple Lightning connector. The newest MFi-certified device from IPC is compatible with the Apple iPhone5, iPod touch 5th generation and the newest 16GB Apple iPod touch 5th generation, which was released last week.

Developed based on customer feedback and industry research, the Linea Pro 5 delivers an improved design and faster scanning capabilities, helping retailers enhance the in-store customer experience, according to the announcement.

The Linea Pro 5 with Lightning connector maximizes the functionality and convenience of Apple's iPhone 5, iPod touch 5th generation and 16GB iPod touch 5th generation by adding a 1D or 2D barcode scanner and magnetic stripe reader. Available with optional Bluetooth and RFID readers, the Linea Pro 5 is also equipped to deliver near field communication in future updates.

"With more than 250,000 mobile POS devices deployed today in 30 percent of the top 20 U.S. retailers, Infinite Peripherals has a distinct advantage in serving the retail industry's unique POS requirements," said IPC President Andrew Graham. "By applying our expertise and deep relationships, along with industry research, we are helping retailers create an even more streamlined consumer experience enabled by Apple's latest products. And, the Linea Pro 5's compatibility with the just-launched 16GB iPod touch 5th generation is a testament to our ability to keep pace with Apple's rapid development cycle."
