New device enables mobile vending payment

VendScreen will release its mobile payment technology at the NAMA OneShow April 25–27 in Las Vegas.

The VendScreen device can be installed into any existing vending machine enabling product payment by credit card, loyalty card, or online account. In the future, consumers may be able to use QR discount codes from advertisers, as well.

The smart device is Android based and wirelessly connects to the Internet, giving VendScreen the ability in the future to leverage applications that can provide value to vending machine users, advertisers, and operators.

Initially vending customers will pay for goods with a credit card swipe, but VendScreen expects to expand payment options as the payments industry implements wireless and mobile payments. The VendScreen device uses a “Touch & Swipe” intuitive user interface, which has become mainstream among smartphone and tablet users, as well as users of self-checkout counters in some stores.

VendScreen says its device is capable of providing non-payment services, too: on-screen info such as nutrition data, display ads and collection of real-time point-of-sale information that allows analytics tracking.
