Morgan Stanley adds button-free RDC to mobile app

A new feature of the company's iPhone app eliminates the need for clients to fumble with the photo button to snap a picture of their check.

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management has integrated mobile check deposit software from NCR Corp. into its new Morgan Stanley Mobile App for iPhone, giving its clients a simple, convenient method for depositing paper checks.

The wealth management app features MiSnap technology from NCR partner Mitek. MiSnap provides onscreen guidance to help the user orient the check. Once this is accomplished the app automatically snaps a picture of the check, which eliminates fumbling with the phone and results in a higher quality check image.

The check deposit is validated and transmitted using the new NCR APTRA Passport for Mobile. The software offers advanced item filtering, recognition, image optimization, and balancing technologies to validate transactions and images before sending them to posting, transit banks and archives.

“A new breed of consumers expects more from their mobile interaction with their financial institution,” said Steve Nogalo, VP and GM of payments at NCR Financial Services. “Through APTRA Passport for Mobile, Morgan Stanley is able to give its clients the freedom to deposit checks in a convenient, secure manner.”
