LevelUp now available to pcAmerica's merchant customers

Mobile payment startup LevelUp is coming to America—pcAmerica, that is. The payment and loyalty solution will be integrated into pcAmerica's retail and restaurant point of sale sofrware and will mean that more than 50,000 restaurants, liquor stores and convenience stores can now accept LevelUp for payment.

David Gosman, pcAmerica's CEO, said his company is all about giving merchants the option to accept any payment type or loyalty program they need to build their businesses. "Many of our customers were requesting the LevelUp integration because it makes transactions more seamless, so we were eager to make this happen," Gosman said, adding that merchants love how LevelUp helps them attract and retain consumers.

The new integration with pcAmerica's software means any retail store or restaurant using pcAmerica's solution can accept LevelUp. Set up is simple and treats LevelUp as any other type of tender.

Additionally, the integration provides retailers with the option to supply LevelUp with detailed, interpretable SKU-level data, the companies said. That gives retailers the ability to create more customized LevelUp campaigns in the future.

"LevelUp believes that integrating with POS providers such as pcAmerica will help us build a truly mainstream mobile payment network,” said Christina Dorobek, VP of partner development at LevelUp. She said pcAmerica’s customers are adopting technology quickly and looking for ways to build more sustainable relationships with consumers.

LevelUp, based in Boston, is a part of SCVNGR and is backed by Google Ventures, Highland Capital and T-Venture among others. The company has raised more than $21 million to date to support its "zero interchange" business model. Instead of charging merchants a fee for every transaction processed, LevelUp charges merchants a percentage of every incremental transaction brought in by marketing campaigns run through LevelUp.

Founded in 1985, pcAmerica provides computerized point-of-sale software solutions to the retail, restaurant, and hospitality industries for over 20 years. Headquartered in Pearl River, N.Y., pcAmerica has more than 50,000 users worldwide including Goodwill Stores, Baskin-Robbins and Tasti D-Lite.
