Wintrust pilots FIS cardless ATM access

FIS, a provider of banking and payments technology, has announced that Wintrust Financial Corp. will conduct a pilot test of the FIS Cardless Cash Access solution. In partnership with Paydiant and Diebold Inc., the company has enhanced its mobile wallet, adding a function that allows customers to withdraw cash from the FI's ATMs using a smartphone instead of an ATM card.

The FIS Mobile Wallet with Cardless Cash Access securely authenticates users on their smartphones. A user can then scan the QR code provided on the ATM screen and select the account and amount of the withdrawal directly on their smartphone. The solution delivers an e-receipt to the smartphone app after cash is dispensed from the ATM.

Instead of using temporary authorization codes as some cardless access solutions do, FIS Cardless Cash Access takes advantage of security within the user app authentication process and the registration of the FIS Mobile Wallet app on the smartphone, thus minimizing the risk for both bank and customer.

"At FIS, we are continuing to invest in solutions that keep mobile consumers better connected to their finances.," said Douglas Brown, senior vice president and general manager of FIS mobile financial services. "Through Cardless Cash Access, FIS is providing secure innovation that places the smartphone at the center of the financial transaction. We're delivering on our goal of supporting a mobile-centric market. "

"Wintrust is community banking at heart, so service is our number one goal," said Tom Ormseth, EVP of Retail Strategy at Wintrust Financial. "Delivering Cardless Cash Access definitely supports our strategy of providing top quality and innovative services, and enables us to deliver on our promise to our customers.'"
