Visa aims to make EMV transactions faster
The company is upgrading software on chip cards to make this happen.
A new software program, Quick Chip for EMV, promises to make checkout time faster and easier for Visa card holders.
Visa, in a report at ABC News, said the software upgrade will eliminate time-intensive transactions that U.S. customers have been griping about since the new credit card chip technology came into play earlier this year.
"While chip cards have been adopted and generally accepted by customers, there have been some complaints the chip transactions take longer," said Stephanie Ericksen, VP of risk products at Visa, told ABC News.
The software upgrade effort will be deployed between now and October for Visa debit and credit cards. The report states the technology could possibly be used by MasterCard and American Express for its cards as well.
