Vietnamese market now accepts electronic payments thanks to mPOS deal
Saigon Commercial Bank, which is also know as Sacombank in Vietnam, today announced a partnership with MasterCard to deploy mobile point-of-sale terminals to merchants who do business in the country's Ben Thanh market, according to a press release.
The market, which is located in Ho Chi Minh, previously only accepted cash, according to the press release. The bank said the market is the first wet market in Vietnam to accept electronic payments.
Sacobank launched the program with MasterCard earlier this month and deployed 300 terminals to merchants at Ben Thanh market, as well as to a select number of insurance companies.
