Vietnamese airline now accepts mobile payments

Saigon Times Online is reporting that low-cost airline Jetstar Pacific has begun accepting mobile payments for ticket fares. The program is a partnership between Jetstar, mobile network operator Vinaphone, online payment gateway OnePay and mobile payment company m-Service.

According to the report, Flyers must sign up for the MoMo mobile wallet service from m-Service, install the wallet on their phones and link the wallet to a bank account. At that point, they simply select MoMo as a payment method when they book a flight over the phone. The customer receives a code that is then sent through the MoMo wallet to Jetstar to have the money deducted from their bank accounts.

The article said the service is intended to give frequent flyers on the airline a way to pay for tickets from anywhere. It is currently available only to Vinaphone customers but is expected to be expanded to other carriers.

Jetstar Pacific is the low-cost brand of Australian airline Qantas.
