Vesta expands its global mobile top-up services
In many parts of the world, especially developing economies, the most valuable thing a consumer can carry on his or her phone is airtime itself. Vesta Corporation, a provider of electronic payment solutions, announced the addition of 78 mobile network operators to its Prepaid.com recharge portal. The website lets mobile customers send airtime to friends and family worldwide.
Prepaid.com features immediate recharging for prepaid phone accounts and allows expatriates and immigrants to stay in touch with friends and family, regardless of distance and borders, the company said.
Among the list of countries now supported for in-country and cross-border recharge of prepaid airtime are Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Philippines and Jamaica, Vesta said.
"Prepaid.com's expanded coverage makes it easier than ever to send a gift of airtime from the U.S. to family and friends around the world," said Vesta Vice President, XJ Wang.
Wang said operators can also capitalize on the billions of cross-border payments sent annually by leveraging his company's experience in delivering an industry-best user experience, security and privacy.
Consumers can recharge minutes through Prepaid.com without registration, PINs or refill cards. They simply select country and operator, enter the phone number to recharge and the payment details. Payment can be made with most major credit, debit and prepaid cards.
The site will support more than 200 mobile operators in 80 countries by the end of this year, Vesta said. Users can perform a one-time top-up or schedule a recurring recharge and Vesta plans to add gift requests and recharges via a smartphone application and voice portal soon.
Founded in 1995, Portland, Ore.-based Vesta has established long-term relationships with most international operators including AT&T, Sprint, Telefonica, and Vodafone.
