Alongside the debut of the MasterPass digital wallet service, MasterCard announced that point-of-sale maker VeriFone is partnering to bring MasterPass into its GlobalBay Mobile Point of Sale and GlobalBay Clienteling applications. The integration of MasterPass as a cloud-based payment method within its GlobalBay products allows shoppers to access their MasterPass wallet accounts and pay from anywhere in the store on mobile devices using the GlobalBay software.

"VeriFone is continuing to improve the consumer shopping experience and drive omni-channel adoption by helping retailers adopt the new wallet and alternative payment innovations their customers are demanding," said Jennifer Miles, executive vice president of North America for VeriFone. "VeriFone’s experience and assets enable us to manage the complexity of integrating these new technologies into the existing retail infrastructure, whether the format is NFC, QR code or the cloud."

With its GlobalBay mPOS application, retailers can deploy mobile devices to associates so they can complete sales, including applying discounts or looking up stock, from anywhere in a store. The GlobalBay Clienteling application lets retailers record and track consumer data such as buying preferences, in order to personalize service to an individual customer's needs.

The intent of integrating MasterPass into its GlobalBay services is to combine that information with actual purchase data, VeriFone said.
